Star of First Show for Kids in Gay and Lesbian Families Sets Sail on Rosie Cruise

'Dottie' of Dottie's Magic Pockets to Appear on R Family Vacations Spring Cruise

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Production company Pink Pea announced that the star of Dottie's Magic Pockets -- the first children's program for kids in gay and lesbian families -- will appear on the R Family Vacations Cruise to the Mexican Riviera, March 15-22, 2008.

Following the highly successful launch of Dottie's Magic Pockets in September 2007, the live appearance by "Dottie" (Jen Plante) will mark the first time LGBT families and friends from across the country will be entertained by the main character of a kids' show that is set in a lesbian household.

"R Family Vacations is very excited that Dottie from Dottie's Magic Pockets will be on board with us for our March 15th-22nd Mexican Riviera cruise. We are excited to be able to introduce Dottie to all of our families, especially the children! I'm sure with all the creative and imaginative people on the ship, Dottie's pockets will be filled with extraordinary goodies! See you on board!" -- Gregg Kaminsky, Co-Founder of R Family Vacations.

Children on the R Family Vacations cruise will be entertained with interactive live performances by the fabulous "Dottie" in her polka-dotted bow along with screenings of episodes from the first Dottie's Magic Pockets DVD. Entitled "Doing the Flower" and "Beat Beet," each 25-minute episode features Dottie along with loveable puppets, adorable cartoons, and original songs and dances. The episodes also include images and characters that represent gay and lesbian families, such as Princess, an animated caterpillar with two dads. Excerpts from the DVD, which are available for viewing on YouTube, are now also available on the show's website: http://www.dottiesmagicpockets.com/.

"Dottie's Magic Pockets began as an idea to offer my son fabulous, creative, educational programming that reflected his family. We're thrilled to now join R Family Vacations -- another innovator offering exciting entertainment for LGBT families and their friends. Plus, this gives Dottie a reason to practice her maracas!" said Tammy Stoner, CEO of Pink Pea and creator of Dottie's Magic Pockets.

About Kids' Programming for Gay and Lesbian Families

The 2000 US Census, the most current data available, reported that one-third of female partner households and one-fifth of male partner households in America have children.(1) In the seven years since that census, most sources believe those numbers have significantly increased. The launch of Dottie's Magic Pockets in September 2007 marked the first time a children's show created especially for these families and their friends was made commercially available. Dottie's Magic Pockets is available for purchase at http://www.dottiesmagicpockets.com/.
